Lord, we pray for more of your Holy Spirit.

As we draw nearer to the Lord, we naturally desire that His Spirit fill us to overflowing described in His Word as springs of water flowing freely from a mountainside. As we open our doors to host activities now that the YES! Project is complete, may we know and share a taste of these living waters.

Do me a special favor. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water.

Joshua 15:19

September 11, 2015

Praise the Lord for who He is pray that He will reveal himself.

We stand in awe each time we enter the DFC building and see the beautiful new YES! Project expansion, for it is only through the Lord’s plans that this has come into existence. Now we look to the Lord for His plans in using the facility to bring others to Christ. His plans always exceed our wildest imagination! So we pray for God’s continued revelation regarding His will achieved through us to the glory of The Great Visionary!

Lord, I have heard of your fame I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known in wrath remember mercy. Habakkuk 3:2

September 4, 2015

Lord, by being your people and living under your covenant, we want to share the many blessings we have received, so all will know you are the giver of every good thing, especially eternal life.

The YES! Project stands as a vivid testimony of God’s faithfulness to His church. As we have been obedient in following the Lord’s direction, He has poured out His blessings on us. We now excitedly open the doors of this facility to the world around us! In the process, we pray fervently that all the activities that will take place over the years ahead will be a vehicle through which the world will come to know the gracious God whom we serve!

You are to help them until the Lord gives them rest, as He has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land the Lord your God has given them. Joshua 1:1415

August 14, 2015

Lord, your abounding love and faithfulness reach to the highest heaven !

God showers His love and faithfulness on us individually as well as on us as a congregation. He has shown this to DFC by opening the way for us to complete the YES! Project . We want to talk about His love and faithfulness to a hurting world that is all around us so that others may also experience the vastness of His love.

For great is your love, reaching to the heavens your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Psalm 57:10

August 7, 2015

Lord, may the sacrifices made for the expansion of this facility serve to unify us as your body.

With the YES! Project construction largely complete, the tendency can easily be to lose intensity with regard to fulfilling the commitments we’ve made. New contributions of time and talent are now needed for activities taking place in the gym and atrium. But the need for prayer for the souls of people who will pass through the doors of DFC remains. And the need to faithfully complete the financial pledges we’ve made is

absolute. In the process of meeting old and new commitments, Lord, create unity among us as we stand shouldertoshoulder

in obedience to you!

First go and be reconciled to your brother, then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:24

July 31, 2015

Heavenly Father, we pray that every interaction with the YES! Project will result eventually in people coming to a saving knowledge of you.

The buzz of activity we see in the YES! Project expansion reminds us that behind every bouncing basketball and every quiet conversation, there are hearts and lives in need of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Father, we pray that every square inch of DFC, both original and new, would be a space where lives are

transformed through the full knowledge of you!

...for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below. Psalm 27:6

July 24, 2015

“Great is thy faithfulness, O God, our Father!”

That old hymn is a wonderful reminder that God is Faithful! No matter our circumstances or emotions in the moment, we know that God keeps His promises. Let us praise Him for the YES! Project Atrium and Family Life Center and all He has done for us as we walked to this place of victorious completion. Let us praise Him with singing and shouts of joy!

At his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy I will sing and make music to the Lord. Psalm 27:6

July 3, 2015

Lord, we look to you, placing our hearts, lives and plans in your perfect hands.

We have stepped into the completed atrium and gym, marveling at all the Lord has accomplished! How do

we move forward? We must keep before us that the YES! Project is not a beautiful building simply to be admired. Instead, it represents ministry responsibilities , which the Lord is already beginning to unfold to his people as they obey his leading. What is your role being spoken by him directly to your heart? The Lord is doing great things among us! Let us respond to his YES! with our own hearty “Yes!”

Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow the Lord will do great things among you. Joshua 3:5

June 26, 2015

Lord, we look to you with confidence about the future of DFC! With the opening of the YES!

Project atrium and gymnasium, we embark on the next step in God's plans for DFC. We know that he has desires to bring others to Christ through this facility. It is our job to continue

walking closely with the Lord, and he will make his plans known to us.

The Lord confides in those who fear him, he makes his covenant known to them. Ps.25:14

June 18, 2015

Lord, we have followed your plan for our church and are now receiving your blessing!

As we gaze upon the results of the YES! Project , we stand in awe of all that the Lord has accomplished.

We are grateful for answered prayer and the promise of great things to come! We offer up our thanksgiving

with hearts filled with joy to a gracious and holy Lord!

The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Psalm 126:3

June 12, 2015

Lord, thank you for being with us each step of this 40year

journey and delivering us into a new era of

ministry.

It’s been a wilderness experience in many ways for us. Yet we can now look upon the beautiful atrium and family life center that make up the YES! Project and realize we will soon “cross the Jordan” into a new opportunity of ministry! If you haven’t yet done so, it’s time to look and see what the Lord has prepared at 3800 E. Hampden. And it’s not just the building more importantly, it’s his people!

Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. Joshua 1:6

June 5, 2015

O Lord, be our encourager and teacher in times of waiting.

We are prone to lose hope when we take our eyes off the true Source of our strength. As the final steps of the YES! Project necessary for us to take occupancy have been thwarted by moisture, we know that even the delay is due to God’s sovereign will. He will not fail us. What our Father has started, he will see through to completion...in spite of the plans we have made! And during this waiting time, when we watch the rain with frustration, he will strengthen us and provide the encouragement we need!

For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.

2 Chronicles 16:9

May 22, 2015

Lord, thank you that in following you, there is power for victory.

We look forward to the many ways the Lord will use our new YES! Project facility among the people of Denver for his glory and purpose. Even as we near completion, this is only the beginning! His power is at work in our lives, in the lives of yet to be born again believers who access the facility, and in the life of this church. We stand in awe of the blessings he is pouring out!

I will give you every place where you set your foot. Joshua 1:3

May 15, 2015

Lord, thank you for your many miracles in our lives. May they be reminders of your faithfulness.

Joshua erected a monument of 12 stones taken from the Jordan to commemorate God’s faithfulness in guiding the Israelites out of the wilderness into the Promised Land. The YES! Project stands as our 12th stone; a reminder that the Spirit of God is still working to guide his people.

Lord, as the completion of the building draws ever nearer, we give you praise for the working of your mighty hand. Truly your faithfulness and love endure forever. We are in awe of your goodness! And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan...that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God. Joshua 4: 20,24

May 8, 2015

Lord, as we rejoice in seeing the tangible results of your directive, so we give you glory in advance for the

fruit we know you will produce for the glory of your kingdom!

The YES! Project is just a few short weeks from being a completed family life center and atrium. But this journey has never ultimately been about a building. It is only a mechanisma

toolin God’s hands to do the true building of his kingdom. We praise him for his divine plan, and we give him thanks for including us in his process! It is our prayer that we would see countless people come to the saving knowledge of

Jesus Christ through the activities afforded by this beautiful building.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21

April 24, 2015

Lord, you are faithful to see your plans fulfilled and we praise you!

The Lord sets his plans with meticulous detail. When the Children of Israel wandered in the desert for 40

years, the Lord provided manna each day for their food. Their clothes and shoes did not wear out. The

vigor of their youth remained with those who followed the Lord.

In the same manner, the Lord has planned out every detail of the YES! Project. He knows exactly what is needed and will provide for it at just the right time. Our responsibility is to be faithful in following him, knowing he knows both the need and the timing.

Now then, just as the Lord promised, He has kept me alive...I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out.

Joshua 14:1011

April 17, 2015

Lord, we thank you for the promise of guidance provided in your Word.

The YES! Project expansion is a Godsized undertaking. It challenges us beyond our ability to make decisions that affect not only the present but the future for generations to come. It seems daunting at times, reminding us that we must be in the Word and in fellowship with God daily. This is the only way

that we will wisely meet the demands of the days that turn into months and years. This is also true in our individual lives we must remain in Christ to have the wisdom and courage to take steps forward according to his leading, not our own.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go I will counsel you and watch over you.

Ps 32:8

April 8, 2015

Father, through your guidance, we have built the YES! Project expansion on a solid foundation. Your Word tells us that we, too, are a spiritual building (Ephesians 2:22), and we thank you for the foundation found only in Your Son, Jesus.

Having stood for the first time in the new building on Easter Sunday, we give you all the praise! We are

confident that its foundation is secure. We also rejoice in the foundation that you laid for us–Jesus himself, who sustains us in this life and for all eternity.

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11

March 20, 2015

Lord, thank you that you pray for us.

During this Lenten Season, the enemy is working overtime to discourage us. We feel the impact in our lives, in the life of our church and in the YES! Project. As we pray for endurance with hope in Christ alone, we can rest assured that He is ever present, praying for us as well.

My prayer is not that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one. John 17:15

March 12, 2015

Lord, we pray for your anointing as we seek to rebuild within our church. Then we ask your protection and guidance as you reclaim our city and the world through your Spirit within us. May it all be to your glory!

The result of the YES! Project will be a facility equipping us to focus on evangelizing the “unchurched” in Denver and a people to actualize the plan. Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we must be a spiritually prepared congregation ready to touch the hearts of those passing through the doors with the life-changing claims of the Gospel. We must live and breathe our Father’s calling and push into the darkness of our community with the Light of the World!

They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities, that have been devastated for generations. Isaiah 61:4

March 5, 2015

Lord, we pray for your will in our lives and our church.

Our hearts are encouraged by the YES! Project building taking shape. At the same time, we are weary from the construction mud, noise and the need to continually adapt. We are tempted to pray for a quick end to it all by returning to how things were. But part of the transformation taking place goes beyond a facility, as we are transformed from “my will be done” (get rid of the mess!) to “Thy will be done” (allow us to see the beauty beyond the mess). Our Father has incredible plans for us just beyond the chaos if we will simply persevere!

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

February 18, 2015

Lord, thank you for providing us with the protection of your armor through prayer!

When Nehemiah and the Jews were rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem, fatigue, outside threats and the enormity of the project were daily discouragements. Through each of these factors, the enemy worked hard to distract them from restoring the city wall. To battle as they worked, Nehemiah instructed the people to carry their weapons at all times.

In the process of building our facility for the YES! Project, we also may battle fatigue, fear and discouragement. Our protection is prayer, which provides us with the armor of God and allows us to stand against our enemies!

...each had his weapon, even when he went for water. Nehemiah 4:23

February 12, 2015

Jesus, thank you for the privilege of prayer and the answers that you bring forth when we give you our

problems!

Through prayer we surrender our grip on the burdens of our hearts to God’s control. We can fully trust him to already have the perfect solution, no matter the size of the problem; he turns insurmountable obstacles into pathways for his glory! Although a huge undertaking from our perspective, the YES!

Project was God’s from the inception. We can rest in his peace, knowing that he is leading the charge!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will

guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

February 5, 2015

Lord, we ask that you call forth your prayer warriors from among us to prepare the way.

God is bringing forth his plan for the YES! Project and we must continue as his prayer warriors–to be praying for the project, our congregation and our church. The enemy will assuredly intensify his efforts to neutralize the move of the Spirit among us. He is no match for our Father, but he will devastate a people unprepared for the battle.

...but all your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites. Joshua 1:14

January 27, 2015

Lord, as we seek you, put your finger on anything that would separate us from you.

Praying for a spirit of repentance, we ask that the Lord make us aware of any dark or dusty corners in our hearts hindering our relationship with him. He alone will continually prepare us to follow in the way that he would have us go as we move along in the YES! Project.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24

January 18, 2015

Lord, thank you that there is power in the name of Jesus!

When we allow Jesus to be Lord, he shows forth his power. By following him to the conclusion of the YES! Project, we allow his name to be proclaimed throughout the city of Denver!

I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. Exodus 9:16

January 8, 2015

Lord, we praise you for you are holy.

As we look forward to all that the Lord will be doing in the life of this local body--His church--through the YES! Project in the year ahead, we must remember first and foremost that He is holy. Circumstances may elicit discouragement or great excitement. But regardless of the circumstances, He commands every detail, orchestrating them together for our good (Ro.8:28) and His glory. (Eph.1:11-12) Through every

situation the steadfast conviction upon which we firmly stand is that He is holy!

Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is and is to come.” Revelation 4:8

December 19, 2014

Lord, we praise you for making the ultimate sacrifice of a loving father--sending your only son, Jesus, to

die for us.

We celebrate the birth of Christ with joy, knowing that God’s love came down to earth in the form of a

baby and became Immanuel--God With Us. Help us emulate your profound love for us by sharing the fruits of the YES! Project with the hurting world all around us.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: that while we still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

December, 10, 2014

Lord, we cry out for your spiritual, physical and emotional healing.

Preparing for your coming anew in the advent season, we pray for your complete healing of our congregation. Anticipating your response, we choose by faith to celebrate the coming of Jesus with joy in our hearts. As a joyful and faithful people, we anticipate sharing in the end result of the YES! Project with

our friends and neighbors for your glory.

He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. Psalm 103:3

December 2, 2014

Lord, we commit the city of Denver and its people to you.

The YES! Project was constructed to introduce Denver's neighborhoods to Christ by way of our new facility. We pray to cooperate with you as you draw the people of Denver to yourself.

Shout for the Lord has given you the city! Joshua 6:16

November 27, 2014

Lord, thank you for your many miracles in our lives. May they be reminders of your faithfulness.

Father, as the fruit of the YES! Project takes shape before our eyes, may it become for us, in part, our “twelve stones of remembrance” after our own 40-year journey. Just as you instructed your people Israel to establish twelve stones as a reminder of your faithfulness upon their crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land, so too have you been faithful to your people of this local body! It is fitting that the mere

presence of this transformed facility be both utilitarian and symbolic. May we be ever-mindful of to whom the building belongs, how it came to be, and the mission you have planned for it. Everything begins and comes to its fulfillment in you, Lord!

And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan... That all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God. Joshua 4:20, 24

November 20, 2014

Lord, we commit to be in your Word continually, that we might hear from you and be obedient.

The YES! Project builders follow the blueprint that was carefully laid out for them in advance. Abiding by the master plan assures them that their efforts will yield a beautiful building according to design. We, too, have a “blueprint” for our lives–God’s Word–which provides us with everything we need to follow his leading and live according to his design.

" Keep this book of the law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8

November 14, 2014

Lord, we ask that you create a hunger and thirst within us for more of you and your Word.

Seeing our building expand and participating in the process of the YES! Project reminds us of the expansion of our hearts that must inevitably take place as the Lord continues to establish residency within us.

Father, as your kingdom expands in us through your Spirit, may every corner of the increase be filled with your presence. May we desperately seek after you as the deer pants for streams of water. Where there is lack, Lord, we know you satisfy just at the point of our greatest need. May our appetite be only for you always as we seek to do your will through the expanded facility and in every aspect of our lives!

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew 5:6

October 30, 2014

Lord, we commit to seeking your face, that we might hear from you.

Father, we know you have all things worked out to your glory--in your time and your way! As we continue in prayer for the YES! Project to result in the fullness of the outworking of your Spirit, we bring all the other troubles of our hearts to your feet. We are your dependent children, Lord, and we seek to be so

close to you that we experience your comfort for our hurts, as well as the fulfillment of knowing we are participants in the working of your plan. Lord, we desperately seek intimacy with you, knowing that everything we desire is contained in that holy fellowship.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

October 22, 2014

Father, we praise your name that even in our very lack of strength, your strength is demonstrated!

The massive steel beam we signed will be positioned in the new Family Life Center so as to stalwartly provide an undergirding for the roof and other parts of the structure totally dependent upon its strength. It has structural integrity and it is more than able to support that which relies upon it. O Lord, even more so are you the immovable, unchanging, reliable bedrock of our lives! We give you glory this day for the

visible reminder of your omnipotence, and even more for the non-visible realm where you are sovereign!

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

October 16, 2014

Lord, we thank you for your unmistakable mark on your people and your work.

The steel beam we sign today will be marked as a foundational beam of our new facility. God cares about foundations within us as well, so he asks us to write his Word on our hearts. Although both are hidden from view, both are expressions of faith, ownership and dedication. Our signatures dedicate the YES! Project work of our hands to him while his signature on our hearts through his Word marks us as his obedient children.

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

October 9, 2014

Jesus, thank you that you have prayed for us.

Whenever we are being obedient to the Lord, we know the enemy will do whatever he can in an attempt to derail us. Each week when we see the progress of our building expansion under the Yes! Project, we are reminded that Jesus has already covered us with his sacrificial blood and is protecting us.

How gracious you are, O Lord, to entrust your work to your people, to equip us with the abundant riches from your storehouse, and to assure success through the protection you promised through covenant relationship with you!

My prayer is not that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one. John 17:15

October 2, 2014

Lord, continue to call us to higher ground as we seek to set ourselves apart for your service.

Each week the changes to our building as part of the Yes! Project bring new excitement of the visible working of our Father. We are reminded that the building is a metaphor for the spiritual expansion work of the Lord in the lives of us, his children.

Father, we ask that you perform your transformative work in us even as construction on the facility takes place. Lead us to the place where we, your people, are spiritually equipped to do your will just as the facility will be equipped for new purposes. May we trust you and follow your lead wherever it takes us!

“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” Joshua 3:5

September 25, 2014

Lord, we are watching with excitement in anticipation of what you will do!

The walls we see beginning to take shape in the Yes! Project remind us of the project that Ezra and Nehemiah undertook to rebuild the city wall and the temple long ago.

We envision how things will look when the project is finished, and we reflect on the many obstacles that presented themselves when God's people set out to rebuild so long ago. We take heart that today, like then, this project is the Lord’s plan, so we know that he will prevail!

He has granted us new life to rebuild the house of our God. Ezra 9:9

September 17, 2014

Lord, we commit ourselves, our families and all that we have to you.

When we choose to live for our Savior who died for us, our service to our Lord encompasses everything, including how we respond to the needs presented by the Yes! Project. Since our commitment is compelled by love, we are happy to meet those needs through prayer as well as by our follow-through on

the financial commitments we have made.

Having the choice to love and obey our Lord makes us all the more eager to serve him as we commit ourselves and our families to him.

But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

Joshua 24:15

September 11, 2014

Father, may we abide in you so that our presence is your presence. May your sweet fragrance be all that

is left behind wherever we go.

Spending time with the Lord is not something that can be hidden. It shows in our peaceful expression; it is

heard in gentle, assuring words; it is felt in an attitude of grace and forgiveness toward others. And like a

late summer shower, its aroma is sweet and irresistible. Heavenly Father, please grant, as we commit our

hands and heart to the work of the Yes! Project, that your fragrance would permeate all that we say and

do.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 2 Corinthians 2:14

September 4, 2014

Father, thank you that as we reclaim stolen ground, you have opened our eyes to the true battle.

We look back on the battles we repeatedly faced in our attempts to expand our church building, realizing now that we were not fighting in the physical realm. With the perspective of the years behind us, we see more clearly that it was (and continues to be) a battle fought in the spiritual realm. With this in mind, we march forward today bearing the armor of God to advance his kingdom through the Yes! Project.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly

realms. Ephesians 6:12

August 27, 2014

Father, we ask that you cleanse us of the pride that can so easily slip into our lives. Create in us a spirit of humility and servanthood for your purpose and glory.

Acting with our own agenda, no matter the nobleness of the cause, will ultimately end in fatigue and disappointment. But if we love the Lord with all our hearts and seek to please him, he will instill into our hearts the very desires that drive us. (Psalm 37:4) The Yes! Project must always remain your great idea,

Lord! We ask you to direct us that we may remain in lockstep with your will.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Philippians 2:3-4

August 20, 2014

Lord, may the work that is done through the Yes! Project first begin in our hearts.

When we earnestly seek the Lord’s direction for our lives, we must come before him with a softened and yielded heart. The Lord cares about the heart first and foremost, and it is only when our hearts are turned toward him that he is able to work his will in us and through us.

My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. Psalm 51:17

August 13, 2014

Lord, we desire to follow you wholeheartedly, letting nothing in our lives have the sacred primary position reserved only for you.

Precious Lord Jesus, if we will fix our eyes firmly on you, giving you our undivided attention, only then will we see you and hear your clear, yet whispered, voice. Focusing on anything less--whether money, power, prestige or pleasure--leaves us empty and unfulfilled. O Father, we choose to say “Yes” to your will in the Yes! Project and in every aspect of our lives. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and let us be wholly devoted to you!

“...then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.” Joshua 24:15

August 7, 2014

Lord, please help us answer the question you ask of us, "What is in your hand?"

Help us walk by faith, trusting that your plan for us goes far beyond the Yes! Project. Give us eyes to see that you will use whatever is in our hand to bring your people to a saving faith if only we will relinquish it to

you.

Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied. The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.” Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake... “This,” said the Lord, “is so that they may believe...” Exodus 4:2-3,5

August 1, 2014

Father, guide us in applying to the work of your kingdom all you have given us for this very purpose.

The Yes! Project has an expected end date, but building the Kingdom continues as long as we are here on earth. We are thankful that God has equipped us with specific abilities, talents, resources and desires to use toward his glory. When we allow him to establish the work of our hands, it is preceded by his favor, which is all we need for a job well done.

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us–yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17

July 16, 2014

Thank you, Lord, for always moving us forward in your will!

Lord, we pray to remember during the Yes! Project that we, too, are "under construction" on this journey. We pray that we will come to know you even more personally, returning to you with our whole hearts to better serve those we pray will come to know you as a result of this undertaking for your glory.

I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart. Jeremiah 24:7

July 9, 2014

Lord, we commit that we will not move without you!

Knowing your plan for our immediate future is inexorably linked with the Yes! Project, human nature could easily lead us to charge ahead in our own strength believing we understand what you want done. But we acknowledge, Father, it is as much about the relationship with you built along the way as it is about the completion of a building. The cry of our hearts is, as it was for Peter when faced with the question of abandoning Jesus as some had done, “Lord, to whom would we go?” (Jn.6:68)

Walking this path with you, our Father, we know you will guide us through any issues that arise in the daily process of construction, somehow bringing glory to yourself. Protect the workers involved in the physical aspect of the project and have your will in their lives--and ours! For we know this is the true

completion of the project, i.e. bringing people to yourself!

Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” Exodus 33:15

July 2, 2014

Father, we pray that you grow us deeper in our faith before you grow us in number.

Seeing the Yes! Project take shape stirs an excitement within us about our increased potential to grow as a congregation. Yet, our true growth will be a deeper relationship with you, Lord. Only then will we be ready to hear and know the direction that you have planned for each of us.

Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. Psalm 42:7

June 13, 2014

Lord, thank you for making a way where there was previously no way.

Each week we marvel as we watch the progress of the construction project that is underway. One short

year ago the Yes! Project was merely a dream being fanned by the Spirit into a passion for God’s people. Today, looking at the activity on the DFC campus, we can witness our Father turning what seemed impossible into reality for his glory!

See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19

June 8, 2014

God, thank you that as we give unto your kingdom and follow you in obedience, you supply all our needs.

Our Father does not call us to merely the possible, but to that which is impossible without Him! Many of us are experiencing that s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g process with regard to the Yes! Project. When the pocketbook or the energy store seems exhausted, we are reminded that the God who calls us is faithful to satisfy

every need AND to enlarge the harvest!

Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. II Corinthians 9:10

May 22, 2014

Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness in leading us to fulfill your promises!

The Yes! Project groundbreaking ceremony last Sunday was a perfect demonstration of God's faithfulness. In his will and in his timing, he has brought us to this exhilarating moment of actually breaking ground with construction now/soon to be underway! We are reminded that this is the Lord’s project, not ours, and we must follow in obedience to his direction, faithfully doing our part in a spirit of unity.

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Psalm 127:1

May 14, 2014

Lord, we thank you that you are the God of miracles yesterday, today and forever.

Today we witness God’s miracles unfolding before our eyes as we participate in the Yes! Project

groundbreaking ceremony. Only the Lord could orchestrate events to bring us to this place! We praise

your holy name, O Lord!

You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples. Psalm 77:14

May 8, 2014

Lord, we pray for wisdom and discernment as we seek you and study your Word to understand and obey your will.

Life presents us with many decisions–some are small while others have immeasurable and lasting impact. When we seek the Lord and study his Word, he imparts his wisdom and guides us in the way he has planned for us. His understanding is infinite (Psalm 147:5), and his ways are always best in both our

individual lives and the life of the Church. Let us make every effort to trust the Lord and lean not on our own understanding with every decision regarding the Yes! Project and our individual lives!

"Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands and you will live. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them." Proverbs 4:5-6

April 30, 2014

God, we thank you that, in the midst of our daily life, we can rest in knowing that You are fighting for us, no matter how small or great the battles we face.

Just as we expect struggles in our individual lives, we also anticipate battles during the Yes! Project. We know the enemy never cooperates with the advancement of our Father’s Kingdom. We are thankful, therefore, that we also know these battles belong to the Lord.

He is the One who will fight for us, and every battle He fights, He wins! Praise God!

It was the Lord your God who fought for you. Joshua 23:3

April 20, 2014

We thank you, Lord, that we have Your promises on which to stand.

On this Resurrection Sunday, we hold fast to Your promise that You will return to take us to heaven to be with You. We rely on Your promise to be with us in all situations here on earth, guiding us as we seek Your will. And, in every phase of the Yes! Project, we watch Your promises unfold before us with each

passing day. How blessed we are to serve the God of unbroken promises!

“You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; none has failed.” Joshua 23:14

April 12, 2014

Father, we are so grateful for those who have gone before us, setting an example of following you. May they

witness our faithfulness to You.

Lord, You have graciously provided us with a history of leaders through whom You have extended Your vision. At times, Your leading has guided us to relocate to larger facilities. At other times, You have inspired ministries of outreach and seasons of deep, spiritual growth. At all times, You have called us to stay in relationship with You, walking where You lead. May we continue in the heritage of obedience of those who have come before us, providing a witness to those who come behind. May You find us faithful as today You call us to reach the lost through the Yes! Project.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders, and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith... Hebrews 12:12

April 4, 2014

Father, we thank You for the privilege of prayer and that no prayer is forgotten.

Prayer is the privilege we have to come before the Lord with the concerns of our hearts. Even though we may forget the things we have prayers for, You continue to work to fulfill Your Promises. No prayer is ever forgotten. It is our passionate desire that, as You tend to each one of our prayers, You would first work in us, then work through us, using the Yes! Project to allow your Spirit to shine in our world.

Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. Revelation 5:8

March 26, 2014

Lord, Your Word reminds us that You begin good works in us that You finish!

As we prepare to break ground for the Yes! Project, we become more and more aware of so many aspects that only You can complete. Because our knowledge is finite, and Yours is without end, we walk by faith, secure that we can trust You with all the details!

"I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel, from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to

completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:46

March 20, 2014

Thank you, Lord, that You have set us apart for Your calling and purpose.

In the midst of the surrounding darkness of the world, God has chosen us and called us as a congregation to move forward to advance His Kingdom. Through the Yes! Project, we believe He is calling us to further spread His Light to penetrate the darkness in our world, in our city and in our neighborhood.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9

March 11, 2014

Lord, we ask that You empower us to walk in love and forgiveness, and that, through this process, You will heal our wounds.

When we indulge the temptation to be offended by others, we build walls that divide and diminish our efforts and our faith. Instead, we can choose His thoughts, words and actions that foster the unity of the Spirit. How wonderful that Christ left us with His perfect example of forgiveness as He headed toward the cross. Let us say “No!” to the temptation to quarrel among ourselves and “Yes!” to the command of our Father to demonstrate His love through our love for one another.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

March 5, 2014

Thank you, Lord, for moving in us to will and act according to your good purposes. (Phil 2:13)

God answered our prayer with a "yes" by granting us the desire to advance His Kingdom through the Yes! Project. By His power we have reached the first milliondollar mark in actual contributions. We are rejuvenated as we see the Lord at work among us, allowing us to abound in this good work.

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly

so that in all things at all times having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:78

In the midst of our planning and preparation for the upcoming groundbreaking, help us to keep our gaze fixed on you, Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. (Heb.12:2a)

As we prepare for this exciting next step in the Yes! Project, it is easy to become distracted from You, Lord. Help us to remember that You know what we need before we ask (Mt.6:8) and that You supply all our need according to your riches in glory. (Php.4:19) Only in your strength, not our busyness, will we achieve this goal to bring You glory.

“...while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. ...They began looking for him among their relatives and friends. When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him...they found him in the temple courts...” Luke 2: 43-46

February 12, 2014

Father, help us follow You in complete obedience as the groundbreaking for the Yes! Project draws

near.

We are thankful for Sunday night’s glimpse of the exciting plans the Lord has in store for us. What a beautiful facility to serve and glorify our Father! As we walk in obedience to His will for us as individuals, as families and as a congregation, we will see His plans unfold before our eyes.

“Be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands,

to hold fast to him and to service him with all your heart and all your soul.” Joshua 22:5

February 4, 2014

Lord, we pray to bring you glory by battling through obstacles, armed with the sword of the Spirit.

As the actual building begins on the Yes! Project, we expect the enemy to oppose and hinder our progress. Rather than despair, we commit to carrying the sword of the Spirit through prayer.

“...everyone worked with one hand and held a weapon with the other hand.” Nehemiah 4:17

January 29, 2014

Lord, we humbly come before You to ask for Your direction. We are grateful that Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

We look at the monumental task of the expansion project before us, certain of failure if we try to complete this on our own. By faith, we place our confidence only in You, Father. We ask You for the faith to follow after You as You build, relying on Your strength.

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. Psalm 127:1

January 22, 2014

Lord, thank you for your divine mercy. Help us to praise and worship you to bring you glory!

The Lord, in His magnificent humility, calls us friend (John 15:15), and we often take Him for granted though He is the allpowerful Creator of the universe, worthy of worship even in the heavenly realms. Let us remember to bow low in worship to praise Him for who He is.

“And they were calling to another: ‘Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty the whole earth is full of His glory.’” Isaiah 6:3

January 10, 2014

Thank you, Lord, for supplying all of our needs as we seek to follow You.

Now that we have pledged our support of the Yes! Project, we may find that we are tested by an unexpected car issue, an illness that incurs considerable expense or even lost employment. We begin to wonder why “it’s just not going well” since we stepped out in faith. Yet God’s Word assures

us that His plan includes the testing of our faith so that our dependence on Him becomes more apparent. His desire is that our focus shift from outward circumstances to believing and following after Him.

“He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.” Deuteronomy 8:16

December 18, 2013

Lord, we thank You that your promises are ever true and your mercies are new every day!

God’s nature is truth and He always brings about that which He promises. His same faithfulness that brought us our Savior 2000 years ago extends to His promises to fulfill His plans for DFC as we participate in His prevailing church today! Although we encounter what seem like insurmountable obstacles, our Father is never deterred. Without delay, regardless of the opposition, He will fulfill His promises!

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

December 10, 2013

Thy will be done, Father!

God’s will is often easier to find than it is to do! Through prayer, as we seek His will for the next step in the Yes! Project, the crucial element is not to “improve” upon His will. Anytime an angel was sent as a messenger in the Bible, it was unthinkable that the angel would do anything other than

what God instructed. Why? Because He knows best and in heaven that fact is readily recognized. Let it be true of us as well!

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

December 4, 2013

Lord, we praise You and worship You for who You are!

As we move into the Advent season, we are reminded that You are Emmanuel God with us. We reflect on Your sovereign hand having been there all along as the Yes! Project has moved from an open door to reality. Lord, we are grateful for Your abundant blessings, without which nothing would be possible. Moreover, we are grateful for Your presence, without which nothing would matter!

And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:3

November 27, 2013

Father, no matter what obstacles we encounter we have Your assurance that You will provide a way to overcome!

Forty years of wilderness wandering by the Israelites was ended by a miraculous parting of the Jordan River, allowing them to move forward. On the other side lay the Promised Land. But the people of God would need to do battle with the formidable foe occupying the land.

The beginning of our Yes! Project has been marked by God’s miraculous hand as we experienced a “crossing” of our own. Although giants surely lie ahead, we can be confident of victory as long as we are following the Lord’s leading. We will overcome each obstacle as He shows us the way!

The Lord your God himself will push them out for your sake. Joshua 23:5

November 20, 2013

Father, accept our offering of thanks all glory for what is happening among us goes to You!

We see the working of Your hand in our lives and in the life of our church as You answer our prayers. You alone are able to move mountains and we fall before You in worship! Your

graciousness to transform our lives while transforming this facility leaves us breathless and awestruck. You are truly mighty and worthy to be praised!

I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord. Psalm 116:17

November 13, 2013

Father, we thank you for opening the door enough for us to be given a glimpse of Your plans for us!

Months of concerted prayer to follow God’s lead for DFC culminated last Sunday in an outpouring of His mighty hand of provision! The future belongs to the Lord, but He graciously gave us a glimpse of what we will experience as a unified body moving forward under our Father’s guidance! When we

ask, we receive when we seek, we find when we knock, the door is opened. We must keep asking, seeking and knocking, driven by a passion to be so near to Him that we lose not a single step!

For everyone who asks receives the one who seeks finds and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Luke 11:10

October 30, 2013

Father, we choose to walk by faith, knowing Your plan is seen along the journey!

As we walk the path of the Yes! Project, we see the high mountains ahead of us that must either be scaled or moved. On our own we could never attempt to climb them. In some instances, He may actually choose to move the mountain. (Mt.21:21) But following the Holy Spirit as He guides us

through the perils and challenges ahead, we will find that what we see as frightening obstacles actually become the very handholds that enable us to scale those mountains. Our faith will be strengthened with every step, and we will confidently move forward in His mighty, unstoppable power!

Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

October 24, 2013

Lord, we humbly come before You asking for your direction, knowing that on our own we can do nothing.

During this season of preparation the Lord should be whispering to each of us just how we are to participate in the fulfillment of the Yes! Project. Since this is His work and His will, it is beyond our natural abilities to complete it. Because of this, whatever He has whispered to each of us will undoubtedly overwhelm us with a sense of inadequacy, and that is perfect! This places us in total dependence on Him to enable us to see it to completion. Trusting in our Father we will witness Him accomplishing great things! Through Him all things are possible!

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. Psalm 127:1

October 16, 2013

Pour out your hearts to the Lord!

What a blessing we received from the 24 hour Prayer Vigil. When a congregation gathers together to lift the holy name of God, the presence of His Spirit washes over His people! Drawing close to the Lord in prayer, hearts are melted, prayers are answered and the peace that passes all understanding envelopes us. Having enjoyed His presence as a result of our emphasis on prayer, let’s be all the more diligent to maintain this practice of turning to Him and seeking His constant guidance. Let’s continue to bring our burdens to Him and trust Him for an answer!

Trust in him at all times, you people pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Psalm 62:8

October 10, 2013

Holy Spirit, we anticipate You moving among us!

When preparing a pump to lift water, you prime it with water. Likewise, the best way to prepare our hearts for the upcoming 24 hour Prayer Vigil is through prayer and fasting! Beginning at 6:00 PM this Friday night through 6:00 PM Saturday night, we will be praying in one hour shifts in order that we might be better prepared as a congregation to move forward in unity with the Lord’s purpose in the Yes! Project. With our hearts prepared, we will hear amazing things from the Lord!

Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you. Joshua 3:5

October 3, 2013

O Lord, we are praying as a church for the outpouring of Your Spirit!

Are you receiving the 40 Days of Prayer emails or participating through the weekly listing of daily devotions? They are designed to help us focus on prayer for the 40 days leading up to our Commitment Service on November 10. If you have yet to participate in this communion of prayer, it’s not too late! You can either provide your email address on a Connection Card and request to be added to the distribution list or you can pick up a printed copy of each week’s devotionals at any of

the Welcome Centers.

Imagine the impact of a church made up of people who not only pray for 40 days but continue daily prayer as a lifestyle! God can transform the city of Denver through a praying church. But He will first transform each of us!

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

September 25, 2013

Heavenly Father, we seek your path!

Many of us are seeking to know exactly how we are to participate in the Yes! Project. God has provided each of us with the abilityand responsibilityto contribute to the process in time, talent and treasure. To know the Lord’s plan for all of us to come together, we must each be praying for His divine direction and instruction. Prayer is the essential component to knowing our Father’s will!

Our Prayer

Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:45

God’s Promise

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go I will counsel you and watch over you. Psalm 32:8

40 Days of Prayer!

How important is the 40 day prayer journey on which we currently travel? Perhaps you were here when we embarked on a similar journey more than four years ago before the Lord connected our congregation with Pastor Shawn. When the body of Christ comes together with unified focus on seeking God’s heart, His Spirit mobilizes His people to be directly in the powerful flow of His will.

40 days is the period of time our Lord is recorded as preparing Himself in the wilderness prior to launching into His earthly ministry. (Mt.4:2) What better way for us to prepare our hearts for the ministry opportunities ahead than to go through a similar process? The practice of focusing our attention daily upon His Word will cultivate a fertile ground in our hearts for the seed of His Word to sprout within us! As we advance on offense in the Yes! Project to impact our Oikos, we will experience victory through our precious Lord acting through us!

“On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18

September 5, 2013

Lord, thank You for Your grace in allowing us to continually hear and learn from You!

Could there be any teacher to compare with our Lord, Jesus Christ? When we turn to Him for help, the growth and teaching begin as He teaches us the way to go. As we travel the Yes! Project path, there will be many opportunities to either turn to the Lord for guidance or try to go it alone. Following the Great Teacher will take us beyond anything we could ever hope or imagine!

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29

August 30, 2013

We praise You, Lord, for making Your path known to us, that we may follow You in confidence.

With the glorious unity of a vote powerfully in favor of the Yes! Project, we celebrate the demonstration of God’s clear voice echoing in each of our spirits! Just as the parting of the waters

of the Jordan as the priests stepped into it affirmed the obedience of the Hebrews (Jos.3:15-16), so we confidently step forward in faith, knowing we are in His will as we listen to--and follow--His voice.

“The Lord has surely given the whole land into our hands” Joshua 2:24

August 23, 2013

The Lord is on the move!

When God speaks, it is our responsibility to listen and respond in faith to His leading! (Jas.1:22, 2:18) He has spoken through the circumstances of the City Council vote. He has spoken through the congregational vote. He has spoken clearly! Now we must keep our ears tuned to His voice, lace up our shoes and be ready to move, for great times are upon us even now!

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19

August 15, 2013

Lord, we pray for the city of Denver.

Dr. Wellman, who pastored DFC when we relocated to our present site, used to say that the mission of our church is to confront every man, woman and child in the city of Denver with the claims of the Gospel. The methods of creating those opportunities to confront are ever-changing. The Yes! Project represents our contemporary pursuit of our Father’s will in continuing to reach our city in new and creative ways. We do this in order that we might see individuals brought to the

saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ! Continue in prayer! Seek His will! Fulfill His call!

“Shout for the Lord has given you the city!’” Joshua 6:16

August 7, 2013

Lord, give us spiritual eyes to see what you have promised even while it is not yet visible to the world.

Today we begin as a congregation to cast votes regarding our support for the Yes! Project as the direction the Lord is leading us and our commitment to follow Him. So begins the actions

that follow from prayer--the kind of actions about which James speaks as evidence of our faith. (Jas.2:18,22) As we move, each step requires spiritual vision to ensure we are walking the path ordered for us by the Lord. Any step taken without the Spirit’s leading is one toward something far less than God’s amazing plan. We don’t want to miss a single blessing He has in mind! Let’s redouble our efforts to stay in tune with Him so we might see with perfect vision!

“Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘See I have delivered Jericho into your hands.’” Joshua 6:2

August 1, 2013

We pray for wisdom, protection and strength for our leaders on this path upon which we embark!

In order to hear words spoken in a whisper, one must press in toward the person speaking. Any surrounding noise must be tuned out and total focus must be given to the speaker. It is this

intimate method of communication that our Father chooses when He relates to us. In the process, we have no choice but to pull ever-closer to Him so we might hear each precious word clearly.

The decision regarding whether we’re ready to commit to the Yes! Project is upon us. The only way to know the will of the Father is to lean our ears so closely to His lips that we miss not a single word! Then, the only thing left is to act upon those words.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is--His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Joshua 1:6

July 24, 2013

We pray for wisdom, protection and strength for our leaders on this path upon which we embark!

Even as the Lord has opened the door of opportunity with the Yes! project, so has He appointed leaders to guide us on the journey. As we seek Him in prayer, the Spirit within us shall resonate with His will expressed through those leaders, resulting in decisive action to fulfill our Father’s plan.

This project will bring new responsibilities and tasks to the already-full schedules of our Pastor and staff. As we prepare to vote to commit ourselves to accepting the opportunity to which God is calling DFC, let’s be mindful of all that is involved in that acceptance. The single most effective activity we the congregation can endeavor to undertake in supporting our leaders is to lift them in prayer, asking our Father to give them discernment and to fortify their spirits with His renewing

strength for the task at hand!

“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.” Joshua 1:6

July 17, 2013

Father, we want to be united in your Spirit, that we may accomplish your will!

One thing very clear from scripture is God’s intention that we should be united as His body. In a spirit of unity, the whole body will be able to pull in the same direction as we embark on Project Yes! Without unity, we will surely get caught up in petty desires and fail our Lord. Now is the time to show courage and faith as we “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Eph.4:3)

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify

the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:5-6

July 10, 2013

Father, our parched spirits yearn for the refreshing flow of Your Spirit upon us!

One sure sign of God’s people residing in the flow of His Spirit is unity of the Body. We pray for the Lord’s anointing on Project Yes! in such a way that His Spirit inspires each of our hearts to be in one accord with His purpose in our individual lives and the life of our congregation. He is the author of clarity and focus, while Satan is just the opposite. (1Co.14:33; Jn.8:44) Living in the unity available only through Jesus Christ, we will be equipped to see Project Yes! become His perfect reality for us.

“In the last days,” God says, “I will pour out my spirit on all people.” Acts 2:17

June 13, 2013

Lord, it is our desire to fix our gaze on You!

Throughout the Bible God promises to show us the way He has chosen for us. Before us onthat path lies an open door of expansion where a wall has stood for nearly 40 years. As we walk toward that open door, the Lord’s watchful eye is upon us as His Spirit leads. Our physical sight is incapable of seeing past the door and down the path to know the challenges that await. Indeed, even if we knew the challenges, we would certainly not know the answers. But the Lord has already prepared the way and it is He who is our guide! By keeping our eyes focused on Him, He will fulfill every promise in and through us!

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:20

May 16, 2013

Father, help us to walk by faith and not by sight.

When we are consecrated to the Lord, we look to Him in prayer regarding each step we should take. Actually taking each step isn’t always easy. When Jesus calls us to take steps that make human sense, it requires little faith to act. But when the Lord calls us to do something we don’t understand, then only faith will motivate us to act.

Only intimacy with the Lord developed through prayer will provide the kind of faith that overcomes our fear of the unfamiliar. Our Expansion Project journey will surely involve situations where we will have to act on faith, trusting that He sees what we do not.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:1

May 8, 2013

Heavenly Father, prepare our hearts that you may move in and through us. You have called us apart for your purpose; we choose to submit to You!

The journey on which we embarked more than a year ago has been one of action resulting from prayer. Prayer will continue to be the essence of intimacy with our Father as we open the next chapter of the adventure. This new phase following the City’s approval of our plans will require two dynamics of commitment--consecration and sanctification.

Consecration is our part. We must resolve in our hearts to be separated from the common and committed to the holy. Sanctification comes from God. He will “set us apart” and infill our actions with His Spirit, bringing glory to Himself. Let’s excitedly anticipate what the Lord has in store for us as we follow Him in prayer and action!

“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

Joshua 3:5

April 28, 2013

We praise you, Lord, for the miracles You work in bringing about Your plans for those love and seek You. May we be a sign to all those watching along the journey.

As we've emphasized, The Expansion Project is more about the journey of growth with our Father than about any growth of our facility. The latter is unnecessary without the former! It is essential for us to celebrate through praise and worship each situation where the Lord advances to reveal more of His will.

Tuesday, April 2, 2013, marked an historic event in the life of DFC. Following countless hours of prayer to align our efforts with God's will and countless more invested into the planning and preparation of the proposal, the City of Cherry Hills Village affirmed a qualified approval of the expansion proposal! The milestone event is an expression of affirmation by God that He is continuing before us down this road!

It is appropriate for us to reflect upon all of the seemingly insurmountable obstacles we faced when this journey began that have been successively overcome through the power of our God! The outstanding exception relates to the details surrounding our drainage plans. We expect those details to be approved by in the next few weeks, as God has even the smallest details in His hands. We look forward with anticipation to receiving this final approval. Let us be diligent to offer the praise and glory due to our Lord for the victories He has won!

The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since....Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel. Joshua 10:13-14.

March 2013

Last week’s communication stated, “Barring any reasons for postponement, the City Council will vote on the Expansion proposal...” Well, certain documentation from the City of Denver regarding drainage issues was not received in time, so the final hearing has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 2. Once again, our Father has determined that we should wait a little while longer.

We have been learning along this journey that when God says, “Wait!” He has something in mind. And so, we will continue to wait upon the Lord for His perfect timing. Isn’t it wonderful to know that He is aware of every situation and is allowing each one for His ultimate glory!

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14

March 14, 2013

Lord, prepare us for Your plans as we seek You with our whole hearts through prayer, fasting and the consumption of Your Word!

Barring any reasons for postponement, the City Council will vote on the Expansion proposal in just two days--on Tuesday, March 19. It is truly exciting to consider that our Father already

knows the outcome of the vote! Through time spent in fellowship with Him, we will grow closer to God as He reveals His purposes behind everything that happens. In this process, our Father will prepare us for whatever direction things go in the meeting. By simply asking for nothing less than His perfect plans for our congregation and the city surrounding us, we are assured that we will be victorious in Him! Intimacy with Him (Love!) must always be our goal. From there, the ability to discern (Grow!) and to respond (Go!) to His will are natural

outcomes.

Even now, declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping

and mourning. Joel 2:12

March 7, 2013

We humbly surrender our plans and will to You, Father. We seek not Your blessing on our plans, but rather that we might be blessed by seeing Your plan fulfilled!

Last Tuesday, March 5, our expansion proposal was heard for the first time by the City Council of Cherry Hills Village. Progress was made and the proposal will have its second and final hearing at the next council meeting on Tuesday, March 19. Positive strides were made regarding several aspects of the very complex proposal. There were also requests made of us to address certain details involving other aspects of the proposal, all of which will be managed prior to the final

hearing.

Let us be ever mindful that this journey has always been as much about the process as it has the outcome of a vote. We certainly desire to see the expansion of our facility if it will bring greater glory to our Father. But along the way we have built relationships with our community and the reputation of our Lord has grown among them as a result. We, too, have grown as a congregation. We have learned patience; we have learned grace. So, as we find ourselves once again in God’s waiting room, we must remain diligent in prayer, seeking only God’s plan to be realized. Greater glory for Him lies in our future if we simply continue in His footsteps!

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

February 27, 2013

Heavenly Father, help us to not stop short of what you have called us to, but to complete our task.

This Tuesday, March 5, our expansion proposal will be considered by the City Council of Cherry Hills Village! Many tasks have been required to develop this proposal and see it

progress to this climactic event. As important as each of those details has been, none has been more so than the responsibility of prayer each of us has borne, and continues to bear, that we

might stay perfectly aligned with God’s will in the process.

This attitude of prayer has allowed us to wait upon the Lord as the journey meandered through many delays. Each delay was an integral part of His perfect timing, without which we would not be sending the proposal to the council along with a favorable recommendation from both the City Planning and Zoning Committee as well as the City staff! Along the way, we have also made it a priority to connect with the communities surrounding us and build relationships with the people. These are the matters important to our Father. Let us now press on in prayer and diligence as we complete the tasks He brings before us!

As the Lord commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses. Joshua 11:15

February 13, 2013

Lord, may You train us to fight in the spiritual realm while we are working out Your plans in the earthly realm.

As the Cherry Hills Village City Council meeting approaches on Tuesday, February 19, we must prepare ourselves for whatever the Lord has planned. At the center of it all, He is focused on people, not buildings or committees or systems. So, as we wait upon the Lord, let us focus in prayer on those involved in the process.

Can we be obedient to our Lord by praying that the residents of the city would benefit from whatever happens? What if we pray for clear minds and pure hearts for the representatives from DFC who will be called upon to interact with the City Council and others? Why not pray blessings upon the members of the Council? Through it all, let us pray that we will be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For your struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:10-12

January 30, 2013

Lord, we are trusting in You and Your Word. We thank you for Your faithfulness!

We recently experienced an incredible blessing from the Lord as we received a favorable vote of 5-to-1 to recommend our Expansion Project proposal to the city council from the Cherry Hills Village Planning and Zoning Commission! Months of diligent work and preparation have been invested by Curtis Clay, Rich Cantwell, DFC’s architect and consultants leading up to this crucial recommendation. We are grateful to our Father for blessing us with these fine people and for using their immense efforts to move us along the path of following His will.

The matter now proceeds, along with the encouragement from its own commission, to the decision-making body of the Cherry Hills Village City Council. Prayer has been the key to

this process and will continue to be at the forefront of our proceedings. Therefore, let us pray passionately that the Lord will continue to have His uninhibited way as the City Council convenes Tuesday, February 19, to consider this matter for the first time. Let us be ever-mindful of our responsibility to be His witnesses through the process and that the results belong to our Father!

“How great are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts!” Psalm 92:5

January 23, 2013

Father, we pray that we will not become complacent but always seek more of what you have for us.

God’s ways are not our ways, neither does His timing conform to ours. Rather, He knows precisely what is required and exactly when to provide the solution in every situation. When

answers come slowly, it is easy to become complacent or even discouraged. In those moments, perseverance in prayer with an attitude of thankfulness keeps our focus on our King Who is able, rather than our challenges that otherwise seem daunting. The great peril of impatience looms in times of preparation such as we find ourselves, beckoning us to strike out ahead of the Master Designer. We presented further information to the Planning and Zoning Committee this week and even upon entering the meeting, received some

unanticipated challenges. This was just another reminder that we do not know what’s around the next corner, but if we listen to Him, God whispers in our ears which corners to take!

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2

January 16, 2013

Lord, we thank you that when we live under covenant with you, although we face a multitude of enemies, you fight for us.

You may be wondering what, if anything, is happening with regard to the Expansion Project. Even though it might appear there isn’t much activity, as Reuben Welch said, “When it seems that nothing is happening, something is happening!”

Meetings with the city planning and zoning committee have continued as we move ever closer to ultimately presenting a formal proposal to the city council, most likely in February. The Lord continues to move His process forward as we walk through doors that He alone opens. From a human perspective, there might be more questions than answers. If we could see from our Father’s perspective, however, we would know everything is right on His schedule. We are reminded that whatever lies ahead is part of His plan for His church at DFC!

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

(December 19, 2012)

Jesus, thank you for Your light and joy that pierces the darkness of our world.

The violence and tragedy we readily observe in our world, especially at Christmas, can draw our attention toward evil and wickedness. Yet, Jesus was born into a very troubled world during the night, obliterating the pall of darkness with the bright light of the advent announced by angels that

would change our destiny!

Instead of fixing our eyes on the depravity surrounding us this Christmas, let’s fix our eyes on Jesus. The Author and Finisher of faith itself has written a story for each of us at DFC. These

stories have us impacting our oikos in very particular ways. But they also work together for our congregation to impact our city in a special way no individual can accomplish alone. Let’s pray

diligently that He would have free reign to expand our hearts and minds, as well as our facility, so He can once more pierce the darkness of our world through us by shining forth the joy of His light!

“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town

(December 5, 2012)

Heavenly Father we give you first place in our lives and repent of placing anything before you.

During the Christmas season it is easy to get so wrapped up in all the decorating, shopping and activities that we can easily fail to make time for the One whose birthday we celebrate. Shouldn’t our Lord have first place, especially at this time of year? What better way to give Him first place than by spending time with Him in prayer and deep relationship.

As children, we share our deepest Christmas desires with Santa. How much more glorious is the One waiting to hear our deepest longings. As we anticipate Him this Advent season, let’s ask our Lord to begin whatever expansion plans He has right in the room of our own heart. Whether our facility ever changes or not, by giving Him first place in our lives, the greatest expansion project of all is promised to us!

“I am the Lord, that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another, or my praise to idols.”

Isaiah 42:8

(November 18, 2012)

Father God, we ask that you will give our Pastor, Staff and Board wisdom in seeking your guidance, lest we vary from Your perfect plan.

We seek the Lord’s wisdom and guidance through the reading of His Word, prayer and the counsel of Godly believers. Meetings and discussions will continue, but the schedule is ultimately in our Father’s hands. Although progress relevant to the expansion may become tedious, we must remember our ever-present mandate of evangelism and discipling. Nothing could be more important than praying for Pastor and the church leadership to have discernment during this season of waiting and preparation regarding the expansion project. In so doing, we also have His promise that He will show us the way!

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” Psalms 32:8

(November 11, 2012)

Heavenly Father, thank you that as we wait for you, we are confident of Your answer.

Last Sunday night’s service and ensuing discussion was a reminder that although we live in the world, we are not of it. And that we serve a Father who is always sovereign. Curtis Clay informed us that the process with the city continues to slowly move forward, with a planned meeting November 13 and possibly another in December. Although we wait in a man-made queue, it is really our Father upon Whom we actually wait. Pastor reminded us that we must be unified in spirit, that perhaps there is more healing we need as a congregation. Whatever the reason, the Lord will not be rushed. Everything works according to His timing. As we wait, we pray. And as we pray, we build our confidence on His answer.

“Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.” Isaiah 64:5

(October 24, 2012)

Father, we humble ourselves before You, knowing that You are the one, true and holy God.

We are once again on the meeting schedule with the City in November. Working through the details of the City’s application process forces us to constantly revisit and refine our submittal. Although humanly frustrating, this is a necessary process. Just as the Lord continually pushes us personally to sacrifice any designs we’ve held as sacred so that He may use us in the way He sees fit, so He also does with every resource He passes through our hands. He uses whatever agents He chooses to do this. Let us constantly be reminded that God has a plan that might involve expanding our facility. The challenges we face aren’t necessarily about God’s will being opposed. Can He not use circumstances and people around us to lead us right where He wants us? Let us not think any of these things strange. Our job remains unchanged--pray without ceasing and move when He moves!

“Take off your sandals for the place where you are standing is holy.” Joshua 5:15

(October 18, 2012)

Lord, help us to follow You in quiet, surrendered obedience.

The meeting that was to have occurred on 10/9/2012 with the Cherry Hills Village Planning and Zoning Commission was unexpectedly postponed. A firm date for rescheduling has not yet been established, although a November date is being discussed. Remember, however, that it is not our job to control the timing. It is our job to follow God’s timing. Neither we nor the City are directing this schedule. God will be neither rushed nor delayed. He simply requires our prayerful obedience. Perhaps there is more growth for us to experience. Possibly something is to take place in the inner-workings of the City. Whatever the case, we are to simply pray without ceasing!

“...do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout.” Joshua 6:10

(October 3, 2012)

Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you. Joshua 3:5

Remember! Tuesday, October 9, is coming! That’s the day of the Cherry Hills Village Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. Our “job” is to be in prayer for that meeting, that

God will accomplish His will in this step of our Expansion Project. Father God, You continue to remind us that prayer prepares the way.

“March around the city with an armed guard, going ahead of the ark of the Lord.” Joshua 6:7

(September 12, 2012)

Lord, we surrender all that would distract us as we pursue You with our whole beings!

What is the Lord’s plan for our lives and our church? A Godly character and a pure heart in

pursuit of Him. But how can we hear His voice if we remain entrenched in our old habits and sins that separate us from Him? We must strive to rid ourselves of the noise of the world

that competes with our Father’s leading. He will instruct us along the path of expansion, both physically and spiritually, that He has already marked out for us!

“...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” Hebrews 12:1

(September 2, 2012)

“...but all your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites.” Joshua 1:14

We continue to wait on the Lord for the next step in our Expansion Project. We are working through the application process with the City, responding to comments and continuing to acquire the necessary entitlements to build our new Family Life Center and Atrium. We will share with you upcoming meeting dates and times with the City, so that all of us may participate in praying for these events.

God, we ask that You call forth Your prayer warriors to prepare the way.

(August 15, 2012)

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21

How about the transformation in the East Foyer! What a blessing the result of His plans for this part of our facility will be for years to come! In the same way, we look to the Lord to transform our hearts into something that is pleasing and acceptable to Him. Please sign up to receive the new

40-day prayer emphasis via email if you haven’t already done so. We will be meditating on this total submission to His sovereignty through this process.

As we look to You, Father, we humbly surrender our plans and will to You, not seeking that You bless our plans, but that in finding Your plan we are blessed.

(August 9, 2012)

The East Foyer remodel is complete! Let’s celebrate!

Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done. (1 Ch16:8)

The much-needed functionality of the transformed space, including the addition of marvelousmen’s, women’s and family restrooms is truly a blessing for which we give all praise to God ourFather!

Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts. (1 Ch 16:9)

The Spirit of the Lord has worked through this process creating terrific collaboration between our Expansion Committee led by Curtis Clay and Rich Cantwell, contractors from the Beck Group, DFC’s liaison on the project Derrell Schreiner, and our Facilities Manager Shane Becker. The result is an exquisite area to serve our members and guests!

Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. (1 Ch 16:10)

Let us keep foremost in our minds that this work has been prayer driven, seeking only to fulfill our Father’s will, not manifest our own. We rejoice in being privileged to participate in His plan as we seek to effectively shine His light in our city!

We will begin 40 More Days of Prayer on Sunday, August 12th. Each day for 40 days an email will be sent out to all who have provided an email address. If you would like to start participating in this daily prayer, provide your email address on the Connections Card and you will be added to the current distribution list.

(August 7, 2012)

With the completion of Phase I of the Expansion process, we lift our hearts and voices in praise to the One who makes all things possible!

Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name; make known among the nations all that he has done.

Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. I Chronicles 16: 8-10

(July 31, 2012)

Very soon we all will see the glow of a brand new East Foyer, which is nearing completion! However, this is not our only progressing activity. Behind the scenes we are working with the city: making formal applications to the relevant committees, responding to comments and continuing to acquire the necessary entitlements to build our new Family Life Center and Atrium. We will share with you upcoming meeting dates and times with the City, so that all of us may participate in praying for these events.

Prayer must come first in all that we do – whether it be for the expansion of our facility or the expansion of our souls. Bring out the prayer warrior within you by participating in the Concert of Prayer Sunday, August 5th at 6:00 pm. God, we ask that You call forth Your prayer warriors to prepare the way.

“. . . but all your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites.” Joshua 1:14

(July 25, 2012)

In the same way that activities are taking place behind the scenes with the expansion of our building, so the Lord is working behind the scenes – deep in our hearts. We ask the Lord to help prepare us as we seek for Him to move in us and on our behalf. We choose to set ourselves apart for His service.

“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” Joshua 3:5

As part of consecration, join us for a Concert of Prayer on Sunday, August 5th at 6:00, where we will focus on prayer for both the physical expansion of our building and the spiritual expansion of our souls.

(April 18, 2012):

Consecration: Anticipating His Great Plan! (Joshua 3:5)

The beginning stages of the transformation of our facility into one of greater outreach and visibility are underway. Committees in the areas of Oversight, Prayer, Capital Stewardship, Communication, Community and Construction are either formed, in the process of forming, or will be formed as the need arises. Progress continues regarding modifications to the East Foyer as permits are being sought to add restrooms and create a vestibule area. Additionally, we have submitted our application to the City of Cherry Hills Village for the construction of the Atrium and Family Life Center. These are truly exciting first steps as the Spirit of the Lord goes

before us to open doors like never before since being at this location!

But we -- each one of us -- must do the personal work of growing spiritually in the Lord along this journey. Beginning April 29, we are launching a 40-day prayer initiative to focus

our hearts on our Father’s will. Each day an email with a scripture and a challenging thought will be delivered to anyone on the distribution list for the weekly eblast publication. If you are not on this list and would like to be, please indicate that on the Connections Card along with your email address. Printed copies of the daily entries for the upcoming week will also be available at the information centers in the breezeway as well as the East and West Foyers.

As we begin our journey in earnest, let us hold this verse before us -- “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

(Joshua 3:5)

Pastor Shawn's vision for expansion:

Acts 1:8 ‘You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’

We believe that God will use the empowered believer to reach the lost souls of our world! We believe that God uses people of His church exclusively for His purpose of redemption and discipleship.

We believe, we the Body at DFC, have been used of God for over 100 years to be salt and light and hope to Denver and surrounding areas.

We believe that God has called us to continue to minister here in central Denver.

We believe that building a Family Life Center along with a flexible and quality atrium space would be a tool of evangelism, discipleship and fellowship that we as a Body have needed for decades.

We believe that this building would provide us a holistic ministry that would provide ministry to all ages. The space would be used for recreation and sport. It would also provide a quality space for worship services from 50 to 1,000 people. The space is useable for Christian education as well as large fellowship dinners and gatherings of 1,000 people.

We believe that we are in the best position with city leadership to see our project approved and affirmed now more than ever before. We are confident that the door is wide open to move ahead.

Finally, we believe the time is now to move on this project. We believe that God wants us to move forward in unity and prayer to see this God-sized project come about for His glory and the harvest of thousands of souls!

Luke 19:10 ‘For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost!’
