I have served in ministry the past 18 years and am an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. I graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education and also received a Masters in Ministry from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. I have been married to Pam for 18 years and we have 2 children: Micah, age 14, and Molly, age 13.

Few people know that I’m a big NASCAR fan and an even bigger Michigan Go Blue Fan. I love the outdoors and enjoy bass fishing.

If I could vacation anywhere in the world I would go to Montana. Why? Growing up as a kid I heard a song called Montana Sky. I’ve always had a visual picture of Montana and the view from the mountains of Montana. I would love to vacation there someday and now that I’m in Colorado I’m a little closer.

When I was little I wanted to serve my country and jump out of helicopters into battle situations. I wanted to be a career soldier and serve as an officer in the Army.

My favorite toy as a child was my soccer ball. I practiced and played with it all the time. I loved to play soccer and still do. I just don’t get many chances to play.

My favorite tv show is 24; Favorite movies are the The Bourne Series: Identity, Supremacy, and Ultimatum; and my favorite book is End of the Spear and any children’s book by Eric Carle.

I am a product of DFC, having been a part of this local church for 35 years. I attended NNU and returned to be on the DFC staff for 15 years and just returned this June after a three-year hiatus. I am married to Mark and we have 2 children, Lauren, age 9 and TJ, age 7.

Few people know that I have 11 siblings – long story!

If I could vacation anywhere, it would be the Bahamas --- just returned! 80 degrees all year round just to sit on beach with no cell service.

When I was little I wanted to wear a business suit and work in a very tall building downtown as an executive!

My favorite toy? I have a twin – didn’t need toys.

My favorite movie is “P.S. I Love You” because the moral is to live each day to the fullest. And my favorite books are The Last Days series – we need to be ready for our Savior’s return.

I was born in Connecticut into a military family and moved every couple years until I reached college. I obtained a Bachelors in Psychology from San Diego State University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver. We moved to Aurora in 2003 and have attended DFC since January 2007. My husband, Kenny, and I have two boys, Davyd and Nathyn.

Most people don’t know that if I could have my way, I would be sitting and looking at the ocean while writing this…

I would travel the world. I love to see new places, new cultures and eat exotic foods!

My favorite toys were micro machines. I have an older brother and loved to play in his room when he wasn’t home!

I have always wanted to be a social worker and work with children.

Kidz/Student Ministries Assistant

I have lived in the Colorado and gone to DFC since first grade. I now live in Aurora with my husband Micah, my son Malachi and my daughter Acacia .

I would love to vacation in Hawaii or someplace tropical. There’s just something about being by the ocean with palm trees.

When I was a child I wanted to be a singer, but then I discovered I couldn’t really sing that well.

My favorite toys as a child were probably my Barbies.

I really like to watch old TV shows, one of my favorites is MASH. I’m not sure what my favorite movie or book is….hmm.

Fess Slipher (fess@denverfirstchurch.com)

DOGS Director (Disciples of God - 5th and 6th graders)

I am a born and raised California boy. I received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Abilene Christian University in Texas. Then attended California State University at Fresno and earned a Teaching Credential in elementary education. My family and I moved to Colorado in December of 2009 where I continued my teaching career as a fourth grade teacher.

My wife Tami and I have 3 children. Amanda and Brandi are active in the Element youth group and Ford is keeping the staff active in the DFC Kidz classes.

Something that few people would know about me is that I like to” Wow” my friends and impress my neighbors by doing back hand springs.

If I could take a vacation anywhere in the world it would probably be Switzerland. I would love to ride the Alps.

When I was young I wanted to be a pro baseball player. That didn’t work out so I’m still trying to decide.

I had a few different favorite toys while growing up. It was a toss up between any kind of toy car, my bike or my skateboard. They’re still pretty much my favorite things.

My favorite TV show is either CHiPs or Monster Garage (both of which are no longer on the air). I don’t watch much TV.

My favorite books are Outliers and Crazy Love.

My hobbies are metal working and welding, building my 1931 Ford Model A coupe, driving my 1968 Camaro, snowboarding, riding my bike, softball and trying to play golf

Kelly Timnick

Nursery Director

I've been on staff for 6 years. I grew up here at DFC and consider it a privilege to serve our nursery families.

If I could vacation anywhere it would be Italy. I love to read, go on date nights with my husband and I absolutely love to go on cruises.

Something that very few people know about me is that I have two sisters (twins) and the 3 of us take a "sisters vacation" every year. We almost always go somewhere hot, sunny and a beach is usually involved. My sisters are my best friends, prayer warriors and mentors. Our "sisters vacation" is our time to reconnect since we all 3 live in different states.
